The Xoán

®

What's behind a name? There's always a story.

And a story is memory, of which FÓRCEPS form part of.

It was 1991 when Xoán "Dedo" Paredes forged an alliance with José "PP" Mayol and Luís "Lucho" Alonso in order to establish the germ of what would later come to be. Following the usual tests and first sessions, the incorporation of two more members, Víctor Bauzà and Xavier B. Rider (Xavier Borrull), came as a natural issue. Behold FÓRCEPS!

The night falls, the muscle is sleeping, and one feels the devastating fury crepitating... The phenomenal footprint of FÓRCEPS remains forever. Past are the classics such as 'Elephant's Attack', 'R'N'R Over', the celebrated cover of 'Anarchy in the UK', or the legendary 'Jeronima's Death's Coming Soon'. FÓRCEPS were brilliant in combining music and visuals, as evidenced by the many nights at Garage's, Builsss, Rotonda and El Chino's. Even in the late but mythical new year's eve show at S'Arenal (Majorca, Spain) in the mid 90s, guitarist "PP" Mayol simply redefined what 'spectacular' means, and the magnificent performance of singer Víctor will forever be remembered as one of the wildest and most authentic rock'n'roll moments: that - vocal - duet.

Parallel projects were also deserving the attention of some members. One of them was Disaster, in the late 90s, which developed under the guidance of "Dedo" Paredes and Xavier B. Rider, together with singer and dancer 'El Mauricio' and 'Weird Kid' on keyboards. Prize granted to whom finds the very rare tape of such an atrocious event! Not to speak of the acoustic duo formed by the two 'axes' "PP" Mayol and "Lucho" Alonso.

In a special occasion organised by the godfather and spiritual leader of FÓRCEPS, the actor,  musician, performer and polyglot "Tito" Àlex Tejedor, most members reunited in 2006 demonstrating, once more, that the absolute power of sonic blast can never be stopped.

The FÓRCEPS PROJECT does not cease. FÓRCEPS are the best vaccine against snobbism.

Classic Line-up

Xoán "Dedo" Paredes _ Drums and percussion

Cerebral founder and responsible of famous quotes such as "Illness makes me stronger"

Xavier B. Rider _ Bass

Solid in his instrument, Fórceps could not be understood without him and his, truly, historical statements such as "Give me a clean dog"

Víctor Bauzà _ Vocals

Nobody will ever reach that level of craziness in the world of r'n'r, not to mention taping it.

Luís "Lucho" Alonso _ Rhythmic guitar

Unbounded passion, "Lucho" provided that underground touch. Despite temporarily leaving the band in a number of occasions, "Lucho" would always return since he was a key part in the structure and spirit of the project.

José "PP" Mayol _ Lead guitar

Aggression! There're still some who wonder how it was possible that such level of violence and speed could come out of those six strings…

With infinite gratitude to the whole GMF ('Fórceps Media Group'),

who were there every night, whenever it was necessary
